The CPG Consortium is glad to welcome Petrobras as a new member. Brazil’s leadership in the energy transition is creating the conditions needed for large-scale CCS adoption: a CCS pilot is already planned, and CCS hubs are actively being identified. Legislative frameworks for CO2 storage are progressing, with Bill 1425/2022 passing to the Chamber of Deputies for adoption. CPG offers an exciting opportunity to combine CCS with geothermal energy extraction using CO2 as a working fluid, which the CPG consortium plans to de-risk in the field for commercial implementation.
